The 33rd World Memory Championship: A Global Showcase of Exceptional Mental Prowess

The 33rd World Memory Championship (WMC) concluded successfully in Istanbul, Turkey, celebrating the incredible achievements of memory athletes from across the globe. Held over three days, the event featured 10 challenging disciplines, including Names and Faces, Random Words, Historic and Future Dates, Binary Numbers, Abstract Images, and more.

A total of 21 countries, registered including the country of Mongolian, China, Vietnam, South Korea, Russia, Algeria, Germany, USA, UK, Libya, India, Philippines, Malaysia, Tunis, Pakistan, Canada, Yemen, Indonesia, Sweden, France, Saudi Arabia, total 21 countries, competed fiercely for memory supremacy.

The Overall Champion was Ms. Enkhjargal Uuriintsolmon, a 14-year-old from Mongolia.

Mongolia dominated the podium with Otgon-Ulaan Naranzul in second place and Tsengelbayar Nomin-Erdene in third.

Among the highlights, China’s Ms. Hu Xue Yan (48) set a new world record in the Spoken Numbers discipline, perfectly recalling 660 numbers in sequence.

The championship was graced by the Vice-President of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, who served as the distinguished guest for the opening ceremony. Speeches were delivered by Raymond Keene OBE, co-founder of the World Memory Sports Council (WMSC), and its President, Prof. Marek Kasperski.

Mr. Teo Kim Foo, the Global Chief Arbiter, ensured fair play throughout the competition, while Mr. Kenny, Vice-President of WMSC from Vietnam, generously served as the event’s main sponsor. The championship was hosted by Chairman Mehmet and supported by an exceptional organizing team, including Tony Buzan Group Vice President Mr. Nicolas, and World Mind Map Champion, Mr. Jerome.
